Buying Guide for Beds & Mattresses
CHOOSING YOUR MATTRESS
We all know sleep is essential to our health and outlook on life. But when you set out to buy a bed or mattress, do you ever think how long you are spending in it over a lifetime? Many of us don’t, we’re so obsessed by the price (and rightly so!) that we don’t always investigate the finer detail of the quality of materials and fillings. It can become a minefield when you do, maybe taking like for like, although those ‘likes’ may not be comparable. Say a 3000 spring count of minute, low-quality springs, against 1700 steel springs, which are built to last and retain their strength over the years.
Here at snuginteriors we want our customers to have a high quality sleep and tailor-made comfort. We truly believe in the benefits of a strong, progressively supportive well-made spring (the engine of your mattress) so we’ve done the hard work and developed a concise range of high-quality mattresses and beds, handmade in Britain, using the finest materials to help deliver a deep and regenerative nights sleep.
It’s time to wake up refreshed, without any sores or pressure points, to enable you to achieve the most out of your day, every day. After all, when spending a third of your life in bed, it’s not worth compromising on comfort or long-term well-being.

WHEN BUYING A MATTRESS IT IS IMPORTANT TO THINK OF THE FOLLOWING...
BODYWEIGHT & SHAPE:
It is important to consider your weight when choosing your mattress and the perfect tension. Generally speaking, the heavier the frame the more suited to a firmer mattress. This is because the gauge (width of the wire used) of the spring is thicker and can therefore sustain greater weights.
As we are all different size and shapes, when testing the mattress, it is important you gently lie in the mattress as opposed to on top or sunken in. We are aiming to ensure that your entire body is supported and the spine is straight. If the mattress is too soft your spine will bow downwards and if it’s too firm, it’ll bow upwards; either way it’ll put pressure on different parts of your body. So just remember: your spine needs to be straight. Also if a couple share the bed, it is important they both try the mattress as their different shape and weight will affect the level of comfort for them.
A simple way of testing the best tension for you is to slide your hand beneath the small of your back and the mattress. If it slides in too easily, the mattress is too firm. If it has to be forced under, the mattress is too soft. It should be a snug fit. Our experienced sales team will test this for you when you find the most comfortable mattress for you.
USE:
Is it to be slept on daily by an adult or couple, or for a child or guest bed? If it is to be slept on daily by adults or if you are looking to give your guests a really comfortable nights sleep, it is worth the investment in a more supportive mattress. After all it is your health and well being at stake.
Children are lighter and therefore do not require as much support. Whilst for the guest room, it’s important to decide how often it’s going to be used! If it’s not that often, the investment may be better spent on your master bedroom!
We tailor make each mattress to our individual customers. Size, comfort levels, mattresses for allergy sufferers, four poster beds with shaped corners, the choice is endless and we always aim to accommodate your requirements.
SPRING COUNT:
You’ll note, that unlike some companies, we don’t inflate our spring count by cramming tiny, low quality springs into the mattress, instead we use high quality, durable springs that will deliver the comfort and support your body needs, night after night. Don’t get caught out by other companies offering 3000 springs for next to nothing – they won’t be the quality you’re expecting.
PREFERENCE:
At the end of the day we all have different perceptions of comfort, you may be a lighter frame but naturally, prefer a firmer bed. We’re not going to try and tell you otherwise, but one thing we like to point out, is that firm is not necessarily best! Comfort and support are key.
TYPES OF MATTRESSES
POCKET SPRING MATTRESSES:
Our luxury pocket-spring mattresses are designed to give you full body support using high quality, and durable, individual springs that are nested in separate pockets. Each spring responds independently and according to the pressure that it receives, ensuring maximum support as they gently adapt to the body’s contour. It also means you won’t be disturbed by your partner’s movements as it’ll be their pocket springs moving and not yours; resulting in a less disturbed sleep for you and it avoids rolling in to each other.
All of our mattresses have been developed to feel brilliant and provide great levels of support. As you go up in our range you will note there are an increased number of springs*, luxurious natural fillings and more rows of hand side-stitching, all of these add to the overall comfort, support and longevity of the product.
*You’ll note, that unlike some companies, we don’t inflate our spring count by cramming tiny, low quality springs into the mattress, instead we use high quality, durable springs that will deliver the comfort and support your body needs, night after night.
All of our pocket spring mattresses are available in a range of tensions to suit your body shape, weight, and your general preference to a softer or firmer feel.

TRADITIONAL OPEN COIL MATTRESSES:
Open coil mattresses are traditionally the most common type of springing, and are a less expensive alternative to the luxurious pocket spring system, making them the ideal choice for children or guest beds. Made with single springs fixed together by one wire, they deliver a firm feel, with a good level of support and are resilient and hardwearing. They are also easy to maintain, as they are lighter to turn than their pocket spring friends.
NATURAL LATEX:
Natural Latex is formed from a white, milky liquid, also known as sap, which is collected from rubber tree plantations. It is a highly resilient product that instantly recovers its shape once pressure is relieved, making it an excellent component to mattresses as it perfectly adapts to the body’s contours. Not only does it give a wonderful cradling sensation, it is also very supportive and has anti-allergenic properties.
