We’ve just returned from the Maison et Objet 2014 interiors exhibition in Paris, and despite being exhausted and in need of a good pedicure, we’re feeling thoroughly inspired by what we’ve seen.
For those of you who don’t know, Maison et Objet is a huge interiors exhibition with 9 halls and approximately 3000 exhibitors showcasing new trends and designs for the interiors industry across furniture, textiles, tableware, fragrances and so on.
By the end of each day our feet are swollen and we’re unable to speak until a large glass of wine is in hand, but then slowly our minds start to buzz with everything we’ve seen and the trends we want to adopt for our customers at snuginteriors!
Here’s a glimpse of new and revived industry trends in 2014
Scandinavian and Mid Century Design
The Scandinavian influence in furniture has been a massive trend recently and continues to attract new followers. We also love this fresh take on Mid Century Design contrasting high gloss black laminate with an American walnut wood veneer.
Japanese inspired simple living
Create a serene and minimal environment without losing functionality. This bed frame neatly hides a mirror, drawer and can be used as a bench to help put your socks on in the morning!
Travel inspired interiors
We love the warm colour palettes used hear to re-create the mood and atmosphere of far-flung, exotic environments
Clustered Pendant Lighting
This year we saw a huge variety of pendants, large and small, odd and even. To me, they all look soo cool. Such a statement. These colours work especially well with the grey wall.
We can imagine these teamed with fresh, crisp white bed linen. A splash of colour whilst remaining simple and elegant.
Bold Primary Colours
Nudes, greys and pastel colours will always be popular. And the below is maybe a touch too far for some of us, but who doesn’t love a splash of colour? Looks like they were fun to make!
