Is the Hypnos Orthos Support Mattress range the best for a bad back?

The Hypnos Orthos Support Range are the firmest mattresses in the complete Hypnos Collection. They have been designed to offer a firmer flatter feel in comfort, as well as a firm level of support. It is very commonly believed that this firmer comfort and support is best for a bad back, however it is not necessarily the case.

A softer or firmer comfort can be created by the upholstery fillings of a mattress and the type of comfort you would like may be based on how you sleep or your personal preference e.g. if you sleep on your side you may prefer softer upholstery to lay into, rather than on top of.

The level of support you receive is down to the mattress spring and this should be considered based on your body weight and height. If you are a lightweight person you would struggle to fully engage with a firmer mattress spring and therefore you would not be properly supported.

A firm mattress would be well suited to a heavier person as the mattress spring is designed to support heavier weights.

Are Hypnos Beds made in the UK?

Yes. Hypnos Beds are handcrafted at their warehouse in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire.

Where can I try a Hypnos Bed?

As well as snuginterior's large Hampshire based showroom, Hypnos have a showroom in Princes Risborough and Castle Donnington, which have all of the Hypnos mattress models and Hypnos Divan Bases  on their showroom floor for you to try. Whether you try a Hypnos Bed in our showroom directly or in one of Hypnos’ showrooms, our team will always be happy to answer and questions you may have and provide any guidance you may need.

Which Hypnos Divan Base should I pair with my Mattress?

You can pair your mattress with any of Hypnos’ divan bases. If your preference is to enhance or achieve a firmer flatter feel, you may want to considering pairing your mattress with a Platform Top Divan Base. If instead you would prefer a softer feel or the optimum level of support you should consider pairing your mattress with a Pocket Sprung Divan Base. And for maximum bed storage, it is well worth considering the Hypnos Ottoman Bed, known as their SuperStorage™ Divan Base.

Can I have storage drawers in a Hypnos Sprung Divan Base?

Yes absolutely. You can have drawers in any Deep Hypnos Divan Base. You can choose from 2 standard drawers, 4 standard drawers or 2 standard + 2 continental drawers. You can configure your layout to you suit you when ordering your Hypnos Divan Base online, over the phone or instore.

What is the benefit of a Turnable Mattress?

Having a mattress with upholstery fillings on either side of the mattress springs gives you the advantage of turning your mattress, this in turn will reduce your bodily impressions and allow the fillings to settle evenly and increase the longevity of your mattress. Turnable mattresses in the Hypnos range include their Hypnos Wool Origins and Hypnos Orthos Support Collections.

What is the benefit of a No-Turn Mattress?

The Hypnos No-Turn ranges, such as the Hypnos Luxury No Turns, Hypnos Pillow Tops and Hypnos Cotton Origins, are all designed to have upholstery overlaying one side of the springs only, so they do not requiring turning, just rotating. If you feel you would physically struggle to turn your mattress, or if it is for a guest room that is not regularly being used, or if you would quite simply prefer the ease of not needing to turn your mattress, these are great easy-maintenance options to consider.

What does ‘One-tension Only’ mean?

‘One-tension Only’ refers to the spring tension that is used within the mattress. Hypnos’ No-Turn Mattresses are made to One-tension Only meaning you do not have the choice in the tension of the spring, like you would with one of their turnable mattresses. If you are interested in one of the No-Turn Mattresses and would like to discuss which model would suit your requirements best, please reach out to a member of our team who will be delighted to help.

How long is the guarantee on a Hypnos Bed?

Hypnos Beds come with a 10-year guarantee against craftsmanship, so you can be confident in the quality you are ordering.

What is the difference between a Strutted, Shallow and Euro-Slim Hypnos Headboard?

Hypnos Headboards are available in three different fixings.

A Strutted Hypnos Headboard is a headboard that sits above your mattress and is connected to the bed with two wooden struts (posts). The design height starts in line with the top of the mattress and is 77cm tall. The wooden struts give you the option to adjust the height of the headboard.

A Shallow Hypnos Headboard pairs with the Hypnos Shallow Divan Base and sits in line with the bottom of the Divan Base. The headboard is 107cm tall and connects to the back of the divan base, offering the look of a bedstead.

The Euro-Slim Hypnos Headboards are fully upholstered floor standing headboards, and as with the above, connect to the back of the divan base. They are 132cm tall.

Can I have any Hypnos mattress model zipped?

Hypnos Beds offer zipped mattresses in King Size (150 x 200cm) or above, including zipped Super King Mattresses and zipped Emperor Mattresses. This is a brilliant mattress option if you are pairing it with a linked divan base to be used as one bed or two, have tight access within your property, require a different level of support to your partner or would prefer the ease of turning a smaller mattress. Mattress Zipping is an option that can be selected on all Hypnos Mattress models other than the Hypnos Pillow Top Range.

How frequently should I turn my Hypnos Mattress?

Your Hypnos mattress should be turned (or rotated if it’s a no-turn model) every other week, within the first three months of receiving. This will encourage the springs and upholstery fillings to settle. After this your mattress should be turned seasonally. Turning your mattress will reduce bodily impressions and allow the fillings to settle evenly and increase the longevity of your mattress.

Do Hypnos make their beds in bespoke sizes?

Yes. Hypnos Beds can make all their mattresses and beds in any size, apart from the Hypnos Hideaway Divan and Hypnos SuperStorageÔ Ottoman beds. Please discuss your requirements with a member of our team who will be delighted to help.

What does Triple Edge Protection mean?

This refers to three key features of the mattress that build additional support along the edges of the mattress.

  1. The first three rows of springs on either edge of the mattress are a firmer gauge to the rest of the mattress
  2. There is a flexible steel frame that runs along the outer edge of the mattress
  3. There are several rows of genuine hand side-stitching that connects the springs to the mattress borders

These three features give edge to edge support and protection to the borders of the mattress.

Which Hypnos Mattress is used by Premier Inn?

The Hypnos Mattress used by Premier Inn is an exclusive model designed specifically to meet the hotel contract laws and be a lower cost product for the hotel chain. It is a Pillow Top Mattress, so for a similar style you would be best to look at the Hypnos Pillow Top Mattress Collection designed for residential use.

It is worth noting that the Premier Inn Pillow Top Mattress is inferior in quality and specification compared with the main Hypnos Pillow Top Mattress Collection for residential use. For example, it only has a 5-year guarantee as opposed to a 10-year guarantee, it doesn’t have hand-side stitched borders and it uses lower quality materials.

Are Hypnos Mattresses Good?

Yes, we firmly believe so. As independent bed specialists we are constantly reviewing the offering of the leading UK bed manufacturers.  We thoroughly analyse their ranges including specification, craftsmanship, pricing, eco-friendly and sustainability credentials and so.  Hypnos Beds consistently rate very highly and we are proud to be partnered with them.

Are Hypnos Mattresses worth the money?

Yes, again, we firmly believe so.  This is down to a wide range of criteria such as the quality of their raw materials and components, their British craftsmanship, competitive pricing, sustainable and eco-friendly credentials and 10 year product guarantee.
